Frequently Asked Questions
What are Essential Oils?
Natural essential oils have been used for thousands of years, extracted from plants, herbs, barks, and roots to capture their unique essences. Each oil contains over 200 distinct constituents, along with hundreds of natural chemical components known to support cellular repair, boost immunity, and provide anti-toxic and anti-viral benefits.
When distilled properly, natural essential oils are up to 10 times more potent than the plants they come from, allowing them to penetrate cells within minutes and deliver powerful, holistic healing. These oils are renowned for their ability to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit, embodying the very essence of the plants they are derived from.
Unfortunately, the market today is saturated with diluted oils containing preservatives and unnecessary chemicals, making it difficult for consumers to trust their purchases. At Celestial Sage, we are committed to providing only top-quality natural essential oils. Every product we offer is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA), ensuring purity and potency you can rely on.
What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a time-honored therapeutic practice that uses pure essential oils extracted from plants to enhance healing and well-being. This process involves the meticulous mixing, distillation, and production of essential oils, botanicals, and flower essences, which are then incorporated into various products such as soaps, shampoos, salves, and more. With a history spanning centuries, aromatherapy is renowned for its wide range of benefits, from physical relaxation to emotional balance.
When pure essential oils are inhaled, their aromatic molecules travel directly to the brain, specifically affecting the amygdala—the part of the brain that governs emotions and memory. This powerful connection helps explain why aromatherapy is so effective in relieving stress, encouraging relaxation, and promoting overall mental wellness.
What is Apothecary?
An apothecary—a term rooted in ancient Greek tradition—represents an early form of pharmacy where natural remedies were crafted with care. In this age-old practice, essential oils, botanicals, and flower essences are expertly mixed, distilled, and transformed into therapeutic products such as teas, soaps, shampoos, and salves.
The modern-day apothecary continues to embrace this heritage, blending time-tested methods with the natural healing properties of plants to create products that promote wellness and balance.

Hot Process or Cold Process?
At Celestial Sage, we craft our soaps using the hot process soap-making method, a time-honored technique that ensures the highest quality and longevity of our products. This method uses an external heat source to bring the soap mixture to the gel phase, which is then carefully poured into molds to set.
Unlike the cold process method, the hot process soap-making method allows essential oils and other natural additives to be added after the saponification process is complete. This preserves the integrity of the natural ingredients and ensures the scents remain vibrant for a longer period. By using this technique, we create soaps that are not only nourishing for your skin but also infused with the lasting benefits of premium-quality essential oils.
What are Parabens & Phthalates?
Parabens and phthalates are common additives in many cosmetic products, including lotions, shampoos, and body washes. However, these substances are linked to serious health risks and can disrupt the endocrine system, potentially affecting reproductive, neurological, and developmental health.
Parabens are synthetic chemicals absorbed into the bloodstream, where they interfere with the body's natural hormone functions, acting as endocrine disruptors. Similarly, phthalates, often used to enhance the flexibility of plastics, can enter the body through various exposure pathways and are associated with reproductive toxicity and hormonal imbalance.
While the European Union has banned phthalates in cosmetics, they remain prevalent in products sold in the U.S. For this reason, it's essential to prioritize paraben-free and phthalate-free products to protect your health. At Celestial Sage, we are committed to your well-being, which is why all our products are entirely free of parabens and phthalates, giving you safe, natural skincare you can trust.
